Behind the Studio

Hey there, my name is Cadel (ca-del - also pronounced like Adele!) I’m the founder and creative being behind CThomas Design Studio. Based in the heart of the midlands with my better half Nat and our male rescue black and white cat; Jett formally known as Jess (I’m a designer, not a postman!) I thought I would share a bit more about the journey so far.

The studio came to life back in 2019, (at the kitchen table) after I was made redundant from my last job simply because there wasn’t enough work coming in. I started looking for new jobs, although I never found one that suited me and my skills, I wanted the next job to be one I really wanted. I wasn’t sure where to go or what to do next! I had always thought about becoming freelance since Uni but was never sure about making the jump (as I’m sure many others have experienced too!) I was ready to find new challenges and had always dreamt about having my own design business.

So here we are now - more than a year on and already I spend my days working with incredibly passionate clients from across the globe. I’m even more excited to see where the studio takes me. Who knows, it could be more than just me running the studio soon!

My work is inspired by everything rustic and minimalist. I like to bring brands to life through custom illustration and pattern, typography, strategic web design and so much more.

When I’m not designing, you can likely find me building furniture out of pallets, decorating the house (and hopefully our own first house in the near future…) or exploring the countryside around our local area with Nat. We both live for the warm and cosy days in the crisp autumnal weather with the fire on and cinnamon and gingerbread candles lit.
